Overview

This course is 75% funded by the Department for the Economy and 25% paid by the employer as part of the Skills Focus Programme. To qualify, your business or social enterprise must have less than 250 employees and you must be based in Northern Ireland and operate for profit.

The Tour Guiding Level 2 Award is ideal for individuals who are passionate about tourism and want to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to become professional tour guides. This course is ideal for those who enjoy sharing their love for travel, culture, and history with others and aspire to work in the vibrant field of tour guiding.

Throughout the course, participants will gain a deep understanding of the role and responsibilities of a tour guide. They will learn how to effectively communicate with diverse groups of tourists, provide engaging and informative commentary, and create memorable experiences for travellers.

: Whilst there are no specific entry requirements for this course, applicants should have an interest in tour guiding and travel in general.

: The course curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including destination knowledge, customer service, tour planning, group management, and storytelling techniques. Participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of the destinations they will be guiding, including their history, culture, landmarks, and attractions.

Participants will also learn about the importance of customer service in tour guiding. They will acquire skills in handling customer inquiries, managing expectations, and providing exceptional service to ensure a positive and enriching experience for tourists.
: Students are assessed through portfolio building and practical observations.
: On completion of this course, you may progress to other travel and tourism related qualifications.
: Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded the Tour Guiding Level 2 Award, a recognised qualification in the field of tour guiding. This qualification demonstrates their competence and readiness to work as professional tour guides, leading groups of tourists and providing enriching experiences.
