Overview

The Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems Level 3 Unit is designed for individuals seeking to develop advanced skills and knowledge in the operation, maintenance, and design of pneumatic and hydraulic systems used in various industrial applications. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the principles and technologies that underpin these critical systems, preparing participants for roles in engineering, manufacturing, and maintenance.

This unit is designed to explore the safe operation of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including simulation of circuits using software and practical system assembly and testing.

Applicants who have basic computer or design skills will find this beneficial when undertaking this course

This course is funded through the Skill Up programme. All applicants must meet the following entry requirements.

Applicants must be 18 years of age on or before the course start date.
Applicants must be eligible to work in Northern Ireland.
Applicants must be ‘settled’ in Northern Ireland, and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years; or are a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK.

Candidates are only permitted to complete a maximum of two free courses at a time.

Modules covered:

Examine the safe operation and maintenance of pneumatic and hydraulic powered systems
Develop pneumatic and hydraulic circuit diagrams and simulate their operation

Students will be assessed through observation of practical tasks and through submitted coursework.

Upon completing the Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems Level 3 Unit, participants may pursue further studies in advanced courses in fluid power technologies or automation, certifications in specialised areas such as robotics or maintenance management or programmes in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.

This unit opens up a variety of career paths in the field of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including Fluid Power Technician, Maintenance Engineer, Automation Technician, Mechanical Engineer (Junior Level) or Process Control Specialist.
