Overview

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development is now the world’s largest professional institute for the management and development of people with over 75,000 members across the UK and Ireland. Their programmes of learning and competence accreditation are the most respected in the world and lead to highly valued professional qualifications.

This course highlights the importance of understanding the business and international context within which HR operates, and the role of HR in driving sustained organisational performance. These qualifications are designed to introduce students to a wide range of practical skills required by today’s HR Officers, Secretarial Staff. Personal Assistants, Line Managers, Trainers and Clerical Staff.

This entry-level qualification is perfect for those working in, or looking to find, their first role in the people profession, and will provide them with:

A solid grounding in people practice
The knowledge, skills and behaviours and to deliver tasks that benefit their organisation at an operational level
The confidence to support positive change for their colleagues and organisation

This qualification is designed for learners aged 18+ who want to learn about people practice. Although there are no formal entry requirements, it is expected that learners can access the appropriate literacy and numeracy needed to complete the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice.
Applicants should have relevant experience in a HR environment. If aspiring to a career in HR, those with no direct experience may also be considered.

If studying a certificate qualification, students will need to join as a student member throughout the duration of their studies. On successful completion of the CIPD Foundation Certificate, students will gain Associate Professional Membership.
Applicants will also be called for a Pre-Enrolment Advice Session (PEAS) at SRC. These sessions will be informal and students can discuss the course requirements and be given the opportunity to ask questions to make sure that they are making the right decision.

The CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice incorporates the following four modules:

Business, culture and change in context
Principles of analytics
Core behaviours for people professionals
Essentials of people practice

The Foundation Certificate in People Practice is a competence based qualification that requires learners to complete both practical and written assignments based on HR background in the workplace.

There is a £40 CIPD joining fee and a £147 subscription fee, therefore a total of £187 needs to be paid directly to CIPD.

Successful students can progress to the Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management, which provides the knowledge towards Associate Professional membership of CIPD. Learners may also progress to other higher education study within the College.

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will have a strong foundation in HR and people management principles and practices. This is valued by employers across various industries and can open doors to a range of HR and people management roles and career advancement opportunities.
