Overview

The Health and Social Care (Adults) Level 2 Diploma is for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the adult care sector. This course provides a solid foundation of knowledge and skills necessary to provide essential support and care to adults in various health and social care settings.

Throughout the course, students will gain a deep understanding of the principles and values that underpin health and social care practice. They will learn about the importance of promoting dignity, respect, and person-centred care while working with adults in diverse settings. The course also covers topics such as communication skills, health and safety, and safeguarding adults.

This course is the recognised qualification for those who wish to work in the health and social care sector as a care worker in a nursing homes, residential setting or domiciliary care setting. Many students are already employed in the sector and are required to achieve this qualification.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Assessments within this course are designed to evaluate students' knowledge, skills, and understanding of health and social care practices. This course will be assessed by written assignments, which are uploaded to an e-portfolio. Practical competencies are also assessed in the workplace by direct observation.

On successful completion of this course and with the relevant experience, students can progress to the Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care. This is very well recognised for employment with health and social services trusts.

Following this qualification, students may find employment in residential care homes, day centres, or as healthcare assistants within hospitals or community care settings. They will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of adults, supporting their well-being and enhancing their quality of life.
