Overview

This course will teach individuals the basic skills of dressmaking which include: following a pattern, fabric selection, cutting fabric and finishing a garment correctly to a professional standard. Learners will also be taught how to use a sewing machine correctly. This course warmly welcomes individuals at all proficiency levels, including complete beginners and those with prior experience.

On the first day, beginners will be given advice on where to purchase materials, tools and equipment, watch demonstrations and practice using the sewing machine. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions, so there is no need to purchase or bring anything on the first day of the course.

For individuals with previous dressmaking experience, this course provides an avenue to expand and enhance existing skills.
