Overview

The Cyber Security Level 4 Certificate is an advanced programme designed for individuals seeking to deepen their understanding of cyber security principles, practices, and technologies. As cyber threats continue to evolve, the demand for skilled professionals in this field has never been higher. This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect information systems and mitigate risks.

The aim of this course is to develop the skills and knowledge of learners to monitor, maintain and enhance the security of information technology systems. Learners will be able to develop expertise in managing and mitigating cyber threats.

Applicants should have achieved a Level 3 qualification in Information Technology or related subject.

This course is funded through the Skill Up programme. All applicants must meet the following entry requirements.

Applicants must be 18 years of age on or before the course start date.
Applicants must be eligible to work in Northern Ireland.
Applicants must be ‘settled’ in Northern Ireland, and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years; or are a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK.

Candidates are only permitted to complete a maximum of two free courses at a time.

Units of study will include:

Penetration testing
Management of governance and security
Security programming techniques, configuration and management processes
Data examination, recovery and forensic analysis
Perimetral security

Throughout the course, students will be assessed via coursework. Active engagement in class discussions and group activities will contribute to overall assessment.

On successful completion of this course, learners may wish to progress to Level 5 qualifications in Cyber Security, Advanced Cyber Security Certifications or Degree programmes in Cyber Security or Information Security Management

This certificate opens up a variety of career paths in the growing field of cyber security, including Cyber Security Analyst, Network Security Engineer, Information Security Specialist, Incident Response Coordinator or Risk Management Consultant.
