Overview

The Computerised Bookkeeping Level 1 Award is for individuals who are new to bookkeeping and want to develop a solid foundation in computerised bookkeeping systems. This award provides essential knowledge and practical training in using accounting software to record financial transactions, maintain accurate records, and produce basic financial reports.

Throughout the course, participants will gain a thorough understanding of the principles and concepts of bookkeeping. They will learn about the importance of accurate financial record-keeping, the role of bookkeeping in business operations, and the fundamentals of double-entry bookkeeping. Participants will also explore key terminology, basic financial statements, and the relevance of bookkeeping in decision-making processes.

This course is ideal for those who have no previous knowledge or experience of accounting or computerised bookkeeping.

It is specifically aimed at learners who wish to begin their studies at entry level and will allow them to achieve a Level 1 qualification.

This qualification is made up of the following units:

Introduction to Computerised Accounting:

Understand the basics of computerised accounting
Understand accounting terms
Recognise source documents
Understand the basics of the VAT system

Set up a Computerised Accounting System and Process Data:

Set up a computerised accounting system
Process credit based transactions
Process cash sales and sundry income
Process receipts from credit customers
Process payments to credit suppliers
Process payments through the bank current account
Process petty cash transactions
Reconcile the balance on the bank current account
Generate reports

Assessment will be via an online knowledge test and online assignment.

In addition to the course fees list, you will be required to pay a £50.00 IAB Student Membership fee directly to IAB. You will not be eligible to sit the assessment unless this fee is paid. This membership lasts for 12 months and will cover you for Level 2 if this is completed withing the 12 month period.

Please note that whilst we try to offer the courses across all campuses, it must be noted that this will depend on applications received before the course starts, we may not be able to offer you your preferred campus, but an alternative will be offered.

On successful completion learners can progress to the Level 2 Certificate in Computerised Bookkeeping.

This award is suitable for individuals who have little to no experience in bookkeeping and want to develop a solid foundation in computerised bookkeeping systems.
