Overview

The Level 3 Award in Computer Aided Design (2D) is designed for individuals wishing to develop their skills in creating detailed 2D designs using industry-standard CAD software. This course provides a strong foundation in the principles and practices of computer-aided design, making it ideal for those pursuing careers in fields such as architecture, engineering, and graphic design.

The course is designed for learners who already have a solid working knowledge of the CAD system and who would like to enhance their skills and gain a qualification at level 3.

Students enrolling on this course should have already achieved the City and Guilds Level 2 Award in CAD Using AutoCAD.

Students will learn how to:

Use AutoCAD and create accurate 2D drawings
Setup drawings to dimensions
Build a library of symbols that can be reused
Develop template files with standard settings
Coordinate reference drawings.

Students will be assessed through practical tests and a written exam.

Students may wish to progress their studies further by studying 3D modelling and then progress onto a Computer Generated Imagery course.
