Overview

The Barbering NVQ Level 3 Diploma is an advanced programme designed for individuals who have already completed the Level 2 qualification and wish to further enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of barbering. This comprehensive course builds upon the foundational techniques learned at Level 2 and introduces students to more complex and creative aspects of the barbering profession.

Throughout the course student's will deepen their understanding of advanced barbering techniques, creative styling, and client consultation. They will refine their skills in precision hair cutting, intricate styling, and facial hair design, while also exploring more specialised areas of barbering, such as pattern work, hot towel shaves, perming, colouring and specialist scalp treatments. Participants will learn to incorporate their creativity and artistic flair into their work, while still meeting the needs and preferences of their clients and enabling them to offer a broader range of services to clients.

This is a very popular course and so early application is recommended.

Applicants must hold a Level 2 in Barbering or equivalent.
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age on or before 1st of July in the year of proposed entry to course.
Applicants must demonstrate at interview that they have a satisfactory level of fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Applicants must demonstrate the attributes of motivation and initiative to participate in the programme and a desire to succeed in completing their chosen course.
Students will be required to purchase their own barbering kit and dolly heads for training.
Professional attire consisting of black trousers, top and shoes/uniform is compulsory and must be worn in all practical sessions.

Modules include:

Provide client consultation services
Creatively cut hair using a combination of barbering techniques
Design and create a range of facial shapes
Provide shaving services
Provide specialist hair and scalp treatments
Perm and neutralise hair
Colour and lighten men's hair

Assessments within the course are designed to evaluate students' competence in various advanced barbering skills. Assessment is by practical observations, oral questioning, online tests and completion of a portfolio of evidence.

Students will be required to purchase their own barbering kit and male training heads.

They must also wear professional attire consisting of black trousers, top and shoes or uniform.

On successful completion of this course, students may progress to higher education.

Upon successful completion of the Barbering NVQ Level 3 Diploma, students will possess the advanced skills and knowledge necessary to excel as professional barbers. They will be equipped to work in high-end barber shops, salons, grooming studios, or even establish their own successful barbering businesses. Students will have the ability to create bespoke haircuts, offer advanced grooming services, and provide exceptional customer experiences, catering to the diverse needs and preferences of their clients.
