Are you passionate about cars and eager to take your automotive knowledge to the next level? Our Advanced Automotive Studies Level 4 Certificate is your gateway to becoming a skilled professional in this dynamic field.

The purpose of this level 4 certificate is to offer learners who are currently experienced technicians in the automotive industry, the opportunity to further develop their knowledge and enhance their skills. There is a real demand across the sector for skilled and qualified motor technicians and employers increasingly require committed, well trained and enthusiastic workers.

This comprehensive two year part-time programme is designed to equip learners with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills in advanced automotive technologies. Students will dive deep into the intricacies of modern vehicles, from electric powertrains to autonomous driving systems.

The over-riding consideration in admitting applicants to the course, is evidence that the learner or apprentice is likely to be able to complete the course satisfactorily.

Attendance at Individual or Group Pre-Entry Advice Sessions (IPEAS and GPEAS) may be required. These interviews may take place either on campus, via telephone or video call (Microsoft Teams) and will play an important role in the selection of all courses.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age on or before 1st July in the year of proposed entry to the course.
Applicants must have achieved a relevant level 3 qualification such as the Level 3 NVQ in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or Level 3 IVQ Advanced Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.

Modules will include:

Advanced Internal Combustion Engine Technology
Advanced Vehicle Body Electrics
Knowledge of Alternative Fuel Vehicles
Advanced Vehicle Driveline and Chassis Technology

Our programme combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. Each student's progress will be evaluated through demonstration of knowledge gained in IMI set written assignments and assessment of practical skills through practical assessment in the workshop.

Where the exam/awarding body fee is listed as TBC in the full fee breakdown, the information has not yet been released by our partner awarding bodies for 25/26. This fee will be updated as soon as it becomes available.

After completing this certificate, students will be well-prepared for advanced qualifications such as bachelor's degrees in automotive engineering or specialised courses in electric vehicle technology or autonomous driving systems.
